Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Lubbock Centennial Committee to honor and enhance the legacy of Lubbock by promoting the remarkable 100 year history through creating a magnificent celebration reflecting the diversity and uniqueness of Lubbock. Our mission is to educate, celebrate and commemorate.

We will achieve this mission by:

1. Coordinating the overall planning of Centennial activities;
2. Facilitating communication with the community, region and state regarding Lubbock Centennial events;
3. Encouraging endeavors that represent the mission to educate, celebrate and commemorate;
4. Developing a budget and fundraising for Centennial events, activities and projects;
5. Establishing sub-committees to carry out the work of the Centennial Committee;
6. Encouraging all citizens, businesses, organizations, and institutions to incorporate the Centennial into existing activities during the celebration period;
7. Bringing recognition to citizens, businesses, organizations, and institutions which develop Centennial projects;
8. Providing opportunities for the entire community to participate in and benefit from the programs and activities offered throughout the Centennial year celebration;
9. Honor and recognize individuals and organizations in the community that have supported and shaped the development of Lubbock through its first century.
